A student-led coalition to save our programs, professors, and staff
In October 2020, IUP announced the retrenchment of roughly 130 tenured and tenure-track faculty (25% of our total faculty), as well as over 130 non-faculty staff, and the consolidation of the Colleges of Fine Arts and Humanities & Social Sciences. However, despite IUP's insistence that it is moving towards a STEM focus, multiple STEM programs are also facing devastating cuts. Our cross-disciplinary, student-led coalition knows that these cuts spell the end of lucrative, successful, and impactful programs across the university, and are anything but "student-centered." Join us in saying SHAME on IUP in order to SAVE IUP, and show your support for our faculty, staff, and programs. We're in this together.
Programs We Believe In
Our coalition started as a collaboration between Journalism, CAL and TESOL, and Fine Arts students to share resources and petitions to make our voices stronger together. As we quickly learned, it wasn't only our programs that were deeply impacted, but practically every program and college across campus. Now that we know the scope of the devastating plan, we are sharing all departments that we know of (so far) that are impacted. For details, including which programs are being cut entirely, see IUP's plan here.

"As a faculty member who is probably not going to be directly affected, I am still very concerned for my colleagues, the health of many programs, and the threat to opportunities for future students."
